Quite right, too… which might seem like a strange thing for a firm like ours to post!
#SmarterResponseLtd would be doing what we do whether this much-needed and well designed piece of new legislation was coming in or not.
Organisations CAN absolutely achieve compliance without services like ours. The legislation sets out what organisations must do. Our focus is helping organisations build confidence and capability before, during and after any incidents… of whatever nature, scale and impact.
Why we are doing this
We are dedicated to helping organisations become safer, more prepared and more confident when faced with incidents that could disrupt normal operations or place people at risk. We want places to be safer and better prepared on a day-to-day basis.
We are about your day-to-day challenges too. Aggressive customers, reputation-threatening incidents, complex and fast-moving events, pupil/student safety, bomb hoaxes, cyber attacks, severe weather, safeguarding concerns and the unexpected situations that can place leaders under pressure.
Our approach promotes and strongly supports the legislation. After 30 years in the Police, including as a Public Order Public Safety Commander, I think the legislation is excellent. But we are not a Martyn’s Law company, nor do we seek to trade on a fear of regulation. In reality, much of the work we do around preparedness, exercising, leadership, plans, decision-making and learning will naturally support organisations as they work towards compliance.
The difference is that our focus does not stop there.
Going beyond compliance
The value of external support is not compliance. It is perspective, challenge and experience. After three decades leading responses to major incidents, critical events and emergencies, we help organisations identify gaps that they may not see themselves, test assumptions, build confidence and develop capability that stands up under pressure.
